As America (and the rest of the world) is in the midst of a necessary revolution, I have begun discovering new voices to learn from and have been introduced to some extraordinary Black owned businesses in the Health & Wellness industry. I’ve explored Instagram and other wellness platforms to find what is listed below. Visit the links I’ve attached for more and more. Explore with me and share anything in the comments!


Nutrition, Recipes & Foodies

All The Healthy Things, website and recipe blog
A Health & Wellness website offering numerous delicious recipes that are focused around eating well and not making things complicated. Her recipe page offers options for Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Grain Free, Low Carb, Nut Free, Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian, and Whole30 AND you can chose a meal type. Founded by Ashlea Carver Adams.

For The Culture, food magazine
A new bi-annual publication celebrating Black women in the food & wine industry, founded by Klancy Miller, cookbook author and writer. An amazing resource and great organization to donate to. Donations goes towards putting together and printing the magazine as well as paying those who are involved.
Their Instagram has live segments on Sundays featuring chats between Black women in food.

Food Heaven, website, healthy resource, and podcast
A wonderful platform loaded with Health & Wellness information started by BFFs, Wendy & Jess, who are RDs, have their Masters in Nutrition, and are Certified Diabetes Educators. Food Heaven is full of LOTS of important information encompassing wellness, eating well, recipes, mindfulness, and all around healthy living. Their Instagram is awesome, and I’m adding their Podcast to my list to listen to!

A mouth watering meal-kit delivery system in which plant-based meals are catered to you and kits for cooking are delivered to your door.

Plant Based RD, Instagram for recipes
Prepare to have your mouth water upon looking through this Instagram. Countless plant-based recipes shared by Catherine, a Dietician.

Reclaiming Our Plate
A supportive community of Black RDs who are committed to support Black folks seeking wellness opportunities. They currently are working on raising funds to aid Black communities who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
They have an Instagram full of resources, and you can become a part of their Facebook group.

Black Girl In Om
“Creating space for Black women to breathe easy.” An online subscription, Instagram, and podcast offering meditations and more. She goes live on Instagram for guided meditations. Founded by Lauren Nash.

The Underbelly Yoga
Yoga For Everyone by Jessamyn. Provides online yoga videos for all levels and humans via subscription program and they offer a free trial. Practice anywhere, anytime. Can’t wait to try their classes!

Get Loved Up
A Yoga Community founded by Koa Webb. This community focuses around holistic health, yoga teacher training, recipes, meditation and more. The website includes a great blog including topics from Sustainability to Recipes to Fitness.

Brown Yogi Meet Up
Subscribe to their newsletter to find out where meet ups take place. Based in Georgia, but an incredible inspiration to start communities elsewhere.

The Honey Pot
A plant-based feminine care product line including mists, wipes, tampons, pads, and more - for keeping fresh and clean for before, during, and after menstruation. Founded by Bea Dixon who healed herself from bacterial vaginosis using all natural ingredients - seriously amazing products.

An online retailer for Black owned natural skincare and wellness products, SO much to explore, so many brands to find.

Mental Health & Wellness Resources And Centers

The Loveland Foundation
A foundation founded by activist and academic Rachel Cargle which offers therapy and healing to Black women and girls. The Loveland Foundation offers a Therapy Fund provided by partnerships with Therapy For Black Girls, National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network, Talkspace, and Open Path Collective. Through the Loveland Foundation website you are able to make a donation (their goal is to offer 1000 women 4-8 therapy sessions in 2020), start fundraising, or they give you an option to create a Giving Circle with 6 friends to all contribute to the foundation for therapy sessions. An amazing resource and great organization to donate to.

Dr. Sebi
What a legend! Dr. Sebi is a self-educated nutritional consultant that uses herbs to heal. He has his own line of products and awesome recipes on his website.

Ethel’s Club
An online (and IRL) community for people of color that has created a second home and healing space focusing around thriving via wellness, culture, music, art, conversation, connecting, and more. They also have an online shop full of insanely awesome products made by people of color. Via Ethel’s Club Instagram other resources include: Dive in Well, Sista Ayfa, Therapy for Black Girls, Healhaus, Inclusive Therapies, and The Nap Ministry.

Loom
A Health & Wellness center based in Los Angeles which offers classes for parenting, fertility, and more - now holding classes via Zoom.

Susanna Cromwell Art
Absolutely stunning block print work by Cromwell who is inspired by the natural elements. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her, and she is just as sweet as her art. Her husband hand makes her frames, how amazing is that!

Farmacy
Amazingly delicious health food cafe with acai bowls, smoothies, brekky, lunch, and dinner options. Vegan and non-vegan friendly, and SO GOOD every time.

Rock Flower Beauty
A skin care and waxing studio offering waxing, brow and lash tints, and luxurious facials with lovely organic products. Can’t wait to get my first facial!

Revitalize
An aesthetic and longevity medicine center with hormone therapy, vitamin injections, and other services lead by Dr. Okwuje.
